Troubleshoot:
1.Q: How to turn the FM Broadcast Radio Station ON?
A: Press "FUN" key on the microphone momentarily, then press Numeric key"7" subsequently to turn the Commercial FM Radio ON. repeater the procedure to turn FM radio off.
2. Q: does this transceiver have 1750Hz Tone for Repeater Access in E.U
A: Yes,we re-designed the PCB board, and added a 1750Hz Tone Module in it basd on the demands from E.U customers. and all production batch of radios starting from April 19 are configuated with 1750Hz Tone.
3. Q: How to save a memory channel?
A: 1st. Press V/M button on the front panel to switch your radio in VFO Mode,
2nd: Input the desired frequency by the numeric key on the microphone
3rd: Press "FUN" key on the microphone momentarily, then press Numeric key"0" subsequently, and press "Up" or" Down" Key on the microphone to select your desired channel number . (Notes:the LCD will display Cover->001, "Cover->001 " means that the channel 1 is occupied, you can save your frequency to cover the previous memory channel., SAVE->234 means that the channel you selected is empty, you can directly save your frequency to it. )
4th: Press "FUN" key on the microphone to save the frequency to channel,.When the data is stored, the word OK will be displayed.
5th: you can recall the memory channel in channel model.

5. Q: How does the built-in cooling fans initiate?
A:The cooling fan works intelligently when radiator of the RF power amplifier reaches a certain high temperature even if the transceiver is receiving still.
6. Q: The radio is already installed and programmed. However, there was a strange sound of a "ticking clock", something like a relay. What could it be?
A:the relay is noisy and it activates when switching to VHF from UHF or viceversa ,please disable the double watch feature on the menu, then the relay noise will go away,or you can make the main band and sub-band freuqency all in same VHF or UHF band, then the relay noise will go away also .That's normal. It's a switching relay when you have dual watch turned on and one band is on VHF and the other is UHF. You can either turn off dual watch, keep both on either VHF or UHF or learn to live with it. It's annoying and all the IC-980's do it.
